About Us

First-time-right membrane process design. From feasibility to FAT/SAT, we align process, hydraulics, and controls—then hold vendors accountable.

About Gorman & Associates

Gorman & Associates is a Denver‑based consulting practice focused on membrane separation technologies—with deep expertise in Electrodialysis (ED) and Bipolar Electrodialysis (BPED/EDBM)—for water, food & beverage, and specialty process industries. We help teams design correctly the first time, troubleshoot efficiently, and operate reliably.

About the Founder

Alexander Gorman is a chemical engineer with 20+ years of experience in membrane separations and process engineering. As the former global technical leader for all electrodialysis and BPED applications at GE, he has led $5–10MM capital equipment projects from concept through commissioning and long‑term support. Alexander specializes in system design, troubleshooting, operating envelopes, and developing clear SOP/CIP playbooks for novel and ambiguous applications.

Our Approach

Vendor‑agnostic: Recommendations are technology‑ and supplier‑neutral; we select what performs best for your constraints.

Data‑driven: Operating envelopes and diagnostics grounded in current density, ΔV/cell‑pair, and limiting‑current analysis.

Practical: Decision‑ready findings, set‑points, and maintenance playbooks your team can run with.

Transparent: Clear scope, timelines, and communication—NDAs welcomed.

What We Do

• ED/BPED system design reviews and performance assessments

• Troubleshooting rising ΔV/cell‑pair, fouling, and off‑spec issues

• Operating envelopes, set‑points, and scale‑up/scale‑down test plans

• CIP/SOP development and training for operators and engineers

• Integrated process solutions with RO, NF, and UF where appropriate

How We Work

• Prompt initial response and follow-up.

• Discovery & data review: trends, SOPs, alarms, and specs

• On‑line/onsite diagnostics with your team

• Recommendations: envelopes, set‑points, cleaning, calculations.

• Follow‑up validation, training, and documentation

Results You Can Expect

• Lower ΔV/cell‑pair and stabilized operation

• Improved yield and tighter product specifications

• Reduced unplanned downtime with cleaner maintenance routines

• Faster, less risky paths from pilot to production

Credentials & Safety

B.S and M.S. in Chemical Engineering; 20+ years in process industries; former GE ED global lead. Safety‑first mindset and standard engagement under NDA where required.
